MENISCUS SURGERY – IT’S THE 6 WEEK MARK!

WOOOHOOO!!! I’ve hit the 6 week mark and you know what that means!!! WEIGHT-BEARING STATUS BEGINS!!!! I’m so excited!! And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little scared, too. I know they’re not going to take my crutches and say, “go for a walk” but I haven’t used my left leg to help me ambulate in 6 weeks so, I think nerves are to be expected. I go in for my follow-up with the doc tomorrow and then, I have a physical…

FRIDAY FAVORITES #6

Happy Friday, everyone! Look at me with 3 posts this week! What what??? Man, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared some of my favorites from the week. This whole work, school, and knee surgery trifecta has really been kicking my butt! AND, my physical therapy regimen will take a new turn next week once I hit weight-bearing status. WOOO! Luckily, life is finally starting to settle down and I’m able to create more of a routine and get into the swing of things. Like sharing my favorites from this week! 1…

TIPS FOR STICKING WITH A NEW FITNESS PROGRAM

One of the first classes I’ve had to take for my Master’s is a research design class. We’re basically learning the different types of research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods) and applying different aspects to assignments along the way leading up to our research paper.  For the assignments, you can either use the topic you plan on doing your paper on (the SMART way to do things because you’re essentially writing your paper!) or you can use a made up research subject for each. Anyway, one of my classmates posted a…

MENISCUS SURGERY – 5 WEEKS LATER

It is true. I did not share anything about my 4th week post-surgery. I am guilty. Let me ‘splain. The 4th week was rough. Like… really, really, really rough. One of the girls quit at work and the other girl was on vacation and that left me holding the bag and having to cover ALL. THE. HOURS. Which was great for that paycheck! But, not so great for my knee. 🙁 Not that I knew that at the time. But….it wasn’t good. Instead of working close to 40 hours for a 2 week period…

SURGERY AND THE THIRD WEEK: AKA THE WEEK THE ANGER SET IN

Well, it had to happen eventually. I mean, you can’t have knee surgery and not get angry during the recovery process. Right? Or maybe that’s just me. And man, if it’s just me, then I might need some help because I was definitely more frustrated and angry than anything during this past week. THE GOOD I may have been more frustrated but I did have some good days. Like Wednesday when I got my stitches out and it became okay for me to shower without a plastic bag on my leg!! WOOO!!! And yes…

SURGERY AND THE SECOND WEEK: MORE GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY

Welp, 2 weeks down and 4 weeks to go until I can put my left foot down on the ground! MORE GOOD And I am wearing regular clothes!!! I’ll tell you what – sweatpants are definitely comfy but I was starting to feel a lot little like a slob. I don’t mind wearing the sweats at home because it makes life a little easier but we started going out in public a little more and I’d prefer to look a little more like a human. haha Physical therapy is going really, really well. I…

COLD BREW, COOKIES, AND ONE CRAZY KITTY (TOL#15)

1. You guys, I just had my first cold brew. I wish I could say it was an earth shattering experience. Um….so, what’s the difference between an iced coffee and a cold brew? I don’t really know. It was decent – I got the sweet cream cold brew – but it wasn’t as creamy as I thought it would be. It was a little more coffee-y than I expected. I think I might stick to iced coffee the next time I roll through a Starbucks. 2. I can’t stop…

SURGERY AND THE FIRST WEEK: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

Welp, it’s official. I no longer have a torn meniscus. The Good The surgery went really well and the doc said there was no other damage to my meniscus, other than the fact that it was torn completely off the post. He was able to reattach it without issue or having to make any additional repairs! YAY! So now, I’m just in the recovery and physical therapy phase and will spend at least the next 6 weeks on crutches. Ugh. Those crutches. The good news is I’m doing pretty well on them. No falls…

COMMERCIALS, EAR WORMS, AND FACE WASH, OH MY!

Heeyyyy! Did you guys watch the Super Bowl on Sunday? Were you in it for the game, the halftime show with Lady Gaga, or the commercials? Or maybe, you were just in it for the food? Yeah, me too. Ha! Actually, I watched for all of the above reasons. More specifically the halftime show and the commercials because I’m not really a Falcons fan and I am most certainly not a Patriots fan. Bleh. That ending though…… 1. Anyway, back to the commercials! I remember when the commercials used to be the absolute BEST part of…

THE WEEKEND IN PICTURES

Hello friends! Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Did you guys watch the Super Bowl? Was that a crazy game or what?! What about the Puppy Bowl? You know, this was the 13th year of the Puppy Bowl and apparently the first year I pulled my head out of that hole in the ground and actually watched it. I had NO clue that all the pups were shelter dogs and that it was basically an adoption event. Where have I been?! Anyway, I finally watched it this year and now I want to live on a farm so…
