Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours did not go exactly as planned but we still made the best of it.
If you caught my Instagram story on Friday, you know that I was loading up my camper and we were going to spend a few days in the woods with some grand plans for hiking, eating all the noms, and drinking some wine. Aaaah……
Well, all was well and we were getting ready to hitch up and then, disaster – the slide-out wouldn’t go in. We checked all the fuses, all the connections, etc but … nothing. Finally found the control box and figured out how to override it and we got the slide-out back in.
BUT, that meant no camping. 🙁 #sadness
So, we unloaded and “camped out” at home. Minus the whole sleeping in the camper part.
We had the same dinner I had planned – sausages, cheese and crackers, and fruit and built a fire in our fire pit out front.
We even had s’mores!!
On Sunday, we headed out to Virginia Beach to pick up a squat rack I found on Craigslist and decided we would find a cool spot to eat lunch.
It was super rustic looking and a little mismatched but not totally. It all really went together! And the food! Oh. Em. Gee.
I had the Pungo Flapjacks – they were made with almonds, and buckwheat, and something else delicious, and they had an amazing fruit compote on top!
My sailor had the french toast and he said they were amazing, too. It was really reasonably priced considering they grow their own vegetables and make their own bread and gather their own eggs in the back.
Dang it, why didn’t I take a picture of the chickens?!?!?!
Anyhooo, I’d love to go back and, if you get a chance to get out to Virginia Beach, I recommend checking them out!
And then, we killed some time wandering around Guitar Center.
Not really my idea of a good time but when you’re married to a musician….. haha
We headed over to pick up the squat rack and came home to put it together.
It’s practically brand new! Scored it for $100 AND I got the 45# olympic bar for only $30! #winning
Check out my instagram to see it in action!
So, that was our weekend. Not exactly the weekend we had planned but we made the best of it and had a good time!
Now, we just have to get our little camper into the shop to get that slide-out fixed so there’s camping in our future. *sigh*Making the best of things when scheduled plans go awry and still having fun. Click To Tweet
