MENISCUS SURGERY – 9 WEEKS DOWN

I know, I know, I’m a day late with this post. Technically, I’m at 9 weeks and 1 day post surgery. It’s all good – gives me another day of PT to tell you about! So, last Tuesday (the 11th), I got to warm up on the bike again! It takes me a minute or two for my knee to loosen up and I have to go really slowly but then, it starts to feel pretty good and I can really get to moving! Then, I got to do a little bit with my…

MENISCUS SURGERY – 8 WEEKS LATER

You guys, I’m so sorry I didn’t update you last week and show you me NOT using crutches! As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was so sick. 🙁  And then, once the fever went away, I had a sinus headache for 3 days. THREE DAYS. Now, I’m in the stuffy sinus-y phase, no headache or fever, but sometimes I can breathe and sometimes I can’t. Gah. The pollen is SO bad this year! But anyway!! I had my follow-up with the doc on March 29 and you will…

TIPS FOR STICKING WITH A NEW FITNESS PROGRAM

One of the first classes I’ve had to take for my Master’s is a research design class. We’re basically learning the different types of research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods) and applying different aspects to assignments along the way leading up to our research paper.  For the assignments, you can either use the topic you plan on doing your paper on (the SMART way to do things because you’re essentially writing your paper!) or you can use a made up research subject for each. Anyway, one of my classmates posted a…

MY WEEK OF WORKOUTS

Hey guys! I’ve really only got one more week of workouts before I take a little break and get used to hobbling around on crutches! I’ve been thinking about how I can still continue to work out after my knee surgery and I’m pretty sure I’ve got some things figured out. There’s no way that I can just do nothing for 8 weeks so I’m going to be creative in figuring out how to get my sweat on. 🙂 There’s definitely going to be a LOT of…

MY WEEK OF WORKOUTS

Hey there! So, first things first….(I’m the realest)… (you know you sang that line, too)…. 😉 but seriously, MY INSURANCE APPROVED THE REFERRAL FOR ME TO SEE MY PREFERRED (civilian) DOCTOR FOR MY KNEE SURGERY!!!! We’ll officially pin down the date next week at my appointment but right now, I’m looking at mid-February. I know most normal people wouldn’t look forward to surgery and crutches for 6-8 weeks but I am definitely not normal (HA!) and am SO ready to get my knee fixed and move forward…

FIVE TIPS TO SURVIVING A COLD WEATHER RUN

So, you may have noticed that the temperatures are finally dropping. These past couple of days have been pretty darn cold compared to the 80 degree weather at the beginning of last week! Okay. So, right now it’s presently 60 degrees and supposed to be a fabulous day but those cooler temps are right around the corner. As in back tomorrow. Yay. But, I have definitely run in some cold temperatures. Like, back in January. Oh. Em. Gee. It was 20 degrees, felt like 9 degrees, and winds were whipping at about 20 miles per hour. To say…
