MENISCUS SURGERY – 5 WEEKS LATER

It is true. I did not share anything about my 4th week post-surgery. I am guilty. Let me ‘splain. The 4th week was rough. Like… really, really, really rough. One of the girls quit at work and the other girl was on vacation and that left me holding the bag and having to cover ALL. THE. HOURS. Which was great for that paycheck! But, not so great for my knee. 🙁 Not that I knew that at the time. But….it wasn’t good. Instead of working close to 40 hours for a 2 week period…

SURGERY AND THE THIRD WEEK: AKA THE WEEK THE ANGER SET IN

Well, it had to happen eventually. I mean, you can’t have knee surgery and not get angry during the recovery process. Right? Or maybe that’s just me. And man, if it’s just me, then I might need some help because I was definitely more frustrated and angry than anything during this past week. THE GOOD I may have been more frustrated but I did have some good days. Like Wednesday when I got my stitches out and it became okay for me to shower without a plastic bag on my leg!! WOOO!!! And yes…

SURGERY AND THE SECOND WEEK: MORE GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY

Welp, 2 weeks down and 4 weeks to go until I can put my left foot down on the ground! MORE GOOD And I am wearing regular clothes!!! I’ll tell you what – sweatpants are definitely comfy but I was starting to feel a lot little like a slob. I don’t mind wearing the sweats at home because it makes life a little easier but we started going out in public a little more and I’d prefer to look a little more like a human. haha Physical therapy is going really, really well. I…

SURGERY AND THE FIRST WEEK: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

Welp, it’s official. I no longer have a torn meniscus. The Good The surgery went really well and the doc said there was no other damage to my meniscus, other than the fact that it was torn completely off the post. He was able to reattach it without issue or having to make any additional repairs! YAY! So now, I’m just in the recovery and physical therapy phase and will spend at least the next 6 weeks on crutches. Ugh. Those crutches. The good news is I’m doing pretty well on them. No falls…

HOW TO SURVIVE COLD AND FLU SEASON

Hello, my friends! I think I am FINALLY starting to feel more like a human and less like a zombie!! It’s been a rough week. In case you didn’t know, I ended up smacked with an upper respiratory infection that morphed into strep throat. Thank goodness for antibiotics! My lymph nodes are FINALLY going back to normal size and I don’t feel so much like I’m swallowing nails any more. These are good things! Now, I’m not certain I could have actually avoided the strep diagnosis as it’s…

BE INSPIRED AND BE EMPOWERED

So, I’ve had some great motivators in my life. You know the kind – the ones who push you when you need pushing, the ones who believe in you before you even ever wondered if you actually believed in yourself, the ones you rely on and go to for advice and help and guidance, the ones who call you out and make you think and put you in uncomfortable spots because they know you can, and WILL, get out of them successfully. I’ve had them in some of the jobs that I’ve had &#8211…

15 THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME

So, truth be told, there’s probably WAY more than 15 things you don’t know about me. I mean, right? You don’t even really know me at all. But, it actually is a little daunting to think of 15 things that I want to share. Suddenly, 15 seems like a HUGE number. Why would I even share 15 things, you ask? Well, I WANT you to get to know me! And, since I accidentally blew up the blog I had worked so hard on (in case you didn’t know, I was previously A…

IS “FATE” REAL? DO THINGS ACTUALLY HAPPEN FOR A REASON?

So, I may have mentioned that I’m presently in a state of flux – a transitioning period, if you will. Riding on that crazy rollercoaster of life and all that jazz. Okay, fine, here’s the deal – I’m not working. And, I’m kinda struggling with it. (and the financial struggle is on its way. hooray.) I have options I’m working on and I’m waiting, not so patiently, to see which “option” rears its ugly head pops up first. You see, sitting still is NOT something I…

WHAT DOES FITNESS MEAN TO YOU?

What is fitness? Everybody has a different definition of fitness. If you asked 5 of your friends what each of them thought fitness meant, you’d end up with 5 different answers. There may be some similarities at the core but the answers would all be different. Because fitness means different things to different people. Fitness, or the quality or state of being fit (gee thanks, Merriam-Webster!), to me is the ability to ACTIVELY participate in my life – whether it be going for a hike with my Sailor, playing with my grandbabies, mowing the grass and…

CHANGE IS GOOD

Sometimes, a fresh start is just what the doctor ordered. And by doctor, I mean life. And by ordered, I mean NEEDED. So, that’s what I’ve done – given myself a fresh start with my blog. And, I guess I really meant it because I’ve apparently wiped out ALL of my previous blogging history. Like, ALLLLLLLLLL of it. 5 years’ worth of posts and photos and stories and recaps and life – gone. *insert flushing noise here* Oh well, change is good, right? So, if you were looking for a recipe that I posted once upon a time…
