MENISCUS SURGERY – 9 WEEKS DOWN

I know, I know, I’m a day late with this post. Technically, I’m at 9 weeks and 1 day post surgery. It’s all good – gives me another day of PT to tell you about! So, last Tuesday (the 11th), I got to warm up on the bike again! It takes me a minute or two for my knee to loosen up and I have to go really slowly but then, it starts to feel pretty good and I can really get to moving! Then, I got to do a little bit with my…

GLUTEN FREE BLUEBERRY BANANA OATMEAL MUFFINS

Happy Friday!! Now, I LOVE me some blueberry muffins. I mean, y’all already know how much I love blueberries. Well, you do if you follow me on Instagram but trust me when I say I LOVE BLUEBERRIES!!!!! And, I heart oatmeal. And bananas. And peanut butter. And yogurt. And chocolate. And wine. Oh wait. Sorry. Got a little carried away there. But seriously, banana bread + blueberry muffin + oatmeal = OM. NOM. NOM. These muffins are so easy to make! They’re gluten free (make sure you use gluten free oats!), use raw honey as a sweetener so there…

MENISCUS SURGERY – 8 WEEKS LATER

You guys, I’m so sorry I didn’t update you last week and show you me NOT using crutches! As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was so sick. 🙁  And then, once the fever went away, I had a sinus headache for 3 days. THREE DAYS. Now, I’m in the stuffy sinus-y phase, no headache or fever, but sometimes I can breathe and sometimes I can’t. Gah. The pollen is SO bad this year! But anyway!! I had my follow-up with the doc on March 29 and you will…

PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL…OR YOU MIGHT LOSE YOUR HOMEWORK

This weekend was a pretty good one!  Not that my previous weekends have been bad ones but last weekend was the first one I spent without crutches (spoiler alert! recap coming tomorrow!) and I was sick. 🙁  Not this weekend, though!! Thing 2 came over Saturday morning with my future son-in-law (henceforth known as FSIL) and my 1st grandthing because FSIL was going to mow the grass. It’s pretty tall in the backyard and I’m afraid I’m going to lose a dog in that jungle! Anyway, it finally quit raining – and he…

PLANNERS, WALKING, AND FACEBOOK STORIES? (TOL#17)

1. You guys, not to start off on a gross note but Eliza threw up on my planner. *insert angry face here*  I am so picky about planners and I know I spent HOURS searching for one and managed to find this really cute one in Bed, Bath, and Beyond, of all places. Well, I certainly can’t use it any more. UGH! Gross, right? Blech!!! So, I spent probably an hour or so searching planners on Amazon trying to find the right one. That’s SO HARD!!! I finally settled on an Erica Condren life planner in…

MENISCUS SURGERY – IT’S THE 6 WEEK MARK!

WOOOHOOO!!! I’ve hit the 6 week mark and you know what that means!!! WEIGHT-BEARING STATUS BEGINS!!!! I’m so excited!! And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little scared, too. I know they’re not going to take my crutches and say, “go for a walk” but I haven’t used my left leg to help me ambulate in 6 weeks so, I think nerves are to be expected. I go in for my follow-up with the doc tomorrow and then, I have a physical…

FRIDAY FAVORITES #6

Happy Friday, everyone! Look at me with 3 posts this week! What what??? Man, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared some of my favorites from the week. This whole work, school, and knee surgery trifecta has really been kicking my butt! AND, my physical therapy regimen will take a new turn next week once I hit weight-bearing status. WOOO! Luckily, life is finally starting to settle down and I’m able to create more of a routine and get into the swing of things. Like sharing my favorites from this week! 1…

TIPS FOR STICKING WITH A NEW FITNESS PROGRAM

One of the first classes I’ve had to take for my Master’s is a research design class. We’re basically learning the different types of research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods) and applying different aspects to assignments along the way leading up to our research paper.  For the assignments, you can either use the topic you plan on doing your paper on (the SMART way to do things because you’re essentially writing your paper!) or you can use a made up research subject for each. Anyway, one of my classmates posted a…

MENISCUS SURGERY – 5 WEEKS LATER

It is true. I did not share anything about my 4th week post-surgery. I am guilty. Let me ‘splain. The 4th week was rough. Like… really, really, really rough. One of the girls quit at work and the other girl was on vacation and that left me holding the bag and having to cover ALL. THE. HOURS. Which was great for that paycheck! But, not so great for my knee. 🙁 Not that I knew that at the time. But….it wasn’t good. Instead of working close to 40 hours for a 2 week period…

SURGERY AND THE THIRD WEEK: AKA THE WEEK THE ANGER SET IN

Well, it had to happen eventually. I mean, you can’t have knee surgery and not get angry during the recovery process. Right? Or maybe that’s just me. And man, if it’s just me, then I might need some help because I was definitely more frustrated and angry than anything during this past week. THE GOOD I may have been more frustrated but I did have some good days. Like Wednesday when I got my stitches out and it became okay for me to shower without a plastic bag on my leg!! WOOO!!! And yes…
